ABOUT

Sila Puhl is a writer, stand-up comedian, and producer. She is currently a resident artist at Ars Nova and has worked on the Emmy-winning The Daily Show researching and producing desk pieces for Jon Stewart. She performs all around New York, including at her bimonthly show Monog Á Trois. She also writes comedy scripts for the channel What If, an edutainment platform with over eight million subscribers on Youtube. She is currently an artist in residence at Ars Nova.

CUT TO: before her career

Sila grew up in Thailand and moved to New York to attend Columbia University where she over-invested in student theatre (a trap that has caught many). Though the school was a nice reason to move to New York, she really moved in pursuit of an answer to one question: why has the paradigm “roommates in New York City” inspired the entire TV canon? What is it about four people living together that has captured our minds? Why is splitting rent the thing that makes our art tick? After years in the city, she still isn’t sure. And the answer feels farther than ever.
